Our Story
Metro Mutts was formed in 2009 after two families of dog owners came together with a passion…for their communities and for their dogs.
Husband and wife team Lee and Kelly were ecstatic to move from Virginia to Capitol Hill with their two dogs Sunny and Hannah. After finding the perfect home on Capitol Hill, they were surprised and delighted to discover that long-time friends were practically next door neighbors. Anna, along with her husband, three kids and dog Batman, were acclimated to Capitol Hill life and were able to show their new neighbors the ropes.
The two families were adamant about supporting local business and often wished for additional services and stores in closer proximity. So, after numerous treks across town to find affordable and healthy dog supplies for their growing puppies, the two families had an “aha moment”! Not only would they help bring businesses to their neighborhood, they would start their own business.
Being experienced and avid pet lovers, they decided that a neighborhood pet store was a necessity. Armed with tons of research, expert advice and most importantly the growing support of neighbors, Anna, Kelly and Lee started on their way to creating Metro Mutts DC.
We believe that pets and their owners will prefer the convenience and comfort of shopping at their neighborhood pet store.
Mutts and owners can effortlessly drop by the store during their daily dog walks or make a quick run to the store to stock up on pet supplies. We think you’ll love us, but don’t take our word for it. Come in to the store with you pet to experience us for yourselves!
